Biography


Michael Field is an independent business consultant with two decades of experience in strategic marketing, market segmentation, business development and innovation.

Michael's commercial career began in 1989 as an advertising and marketing executive working across publications including newspapers and magazines. He progressed into online marketing in 1999 working on the launch of an ASX-listed Australian online business directory.

From 1999 – 2004, Michael worked in a number of senior marketing roles in listed technology companies. This experience included prospectus writing & capital raising, mergers & acquisitions and strategic alliances & partnerships with organisations such as AOL and Yahoo! Australia and New Zealand.

In 2004, Michael was engaged by a records management company to conduct a comprehensive market research and needs-based segmentation programme. The project was part of a broader objective to prepare the business for sale, which was successfully concluded in December 2005.

From 2006 – 2008, Michael was the General Manager of Marketing and Member Services for the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and was responsible for implementing a comprehensive needs-based segmentation programme, managing sponsorship, publications, e-business and the ASX Top-200 programme.

Michael is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), has served as a non-executive director on the board of Save the Children Victoria, is a current council member of Save the Children New South Wales and is a former guest lecturer in marketing, small business promotional marketing and professional communication at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia.
